A 14-year-old girl is in hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by a school bus Monday morning, police say.

Scott Pattison, communications advisor with the Edmonton Police Service (EPS), said the girl was walking in a marked crosswalk at 100 Avenue when she was hit by the bus around 7:50 a.m.

Police were told the school bus was travelling northbound on 167 Street when it turned left onto 100 Avenue and struck the girl, Pattison said.

The pedestrian was treated by paramedics and they transported her to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say no charges have been laid at this time and the investigation is still in its preliminary stage.
