Albertans in Phase 2C who were previously not eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as those in Phase 2D, will soon be able to book appointments.
Starting Friday at 8 a.m., the following groups of people will be able to reserve timeslots online through the Alberta Health Services booking tool, by calling 811 or by contacting participating pharmacies provincewide:
- Frontline disability workers, as well as staff in group homes, mental health or addiction treatment, children and youth group care, and campus-based care like secure services and other types of licensed supportive living. A letter from the employer will be required as proof of eligibility.
- Designated family support for Albertans in long-term care, designated supportive living and licensed supportive living facilities who are at high risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes. A letter from the facility will be required as proof of eligibility.
- Household contacts and caregivers of Albertans who are immunocompromised, as well as parents or guardians of children under 12 who have a chronic condition that is listed under Phase 2B but are unable to receive the vaccine due to their age. An honour system approach will be used in these cases.
- Frontline policing and provincial sheriffs who interact with residents at shelters, correctional facilities and remand centres, as well as Canadian Border Security Agency staff and firefighters.
- All Albertans between the ages of 50 and 64, and First Nations, Métis and Inuit individuals between the ages of 35 and 49.

Eligible home care individuals will be contacted directly by AHS. They can also call 811 to discuss their immunization options.
Details about Phase 3 – the rollout to the general public – will be released in the coming weeks, according to a government news release issued Thursday, which noted that the timeline depends on vaccine supply from the federal government.
More than 2.8 million Albertans will be eligible for the vaccine as of Friday, and more than 1.4 million doses have been administered in the province to date.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province’s chief medical officer of health, will provide an update on COVID-19 in the province Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
