Alberta reported 1,351 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, the highest daily case count since New Year’s Eve.
Another 575 new cases of variants of concern were also identified.
There are 11,464 active cases across the province, an increase of 655 since Tuesday. Of the active cases, 4,951, or 43.2 per cent, are variants.
Over the last 24 hours, 14,051 tests were completed for an approximate positivity rate of 9.6 per cent.
There are 333 people in hospital with COVID-19, an increase of five. Of those, 79 are in intensive care units, an increase of three.
One more person has died, raising the provincial death toll to 2,002.
As of end-of-day Tuesday, 755,831 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, or 16,906.5 doses per 100,000 people. There was an increase of 21,428 doses from the previous day.
There are 133,401 Albertans fully immunized with 2 doses, an increase of 10,129.
