Alberta reported 1,839 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and there are now 20,938 active cases.
There were 1,058 more cases of variants of concern identified. Of the province’s total active cases 13,193, or 63 per cent, are variants.
Across the province, 643 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of eight from Tuesday. Of those, 145 are in intensive care units, an increase of two.
Six more deaths were reported, raising the death toll to 2,073.
As of end-of-day Tuesday, 1,497,256 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, or 34,490 doses per 100,000 people.
There are 288,595 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
