Alberta reported 279 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, as 76.5 per cent of eligible Albertans have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Over the last 24 hours, 5,424 COVID-19 tests were completed for a positivity rate of 5.1 per cent. Across the province, there are 3,463 active cases, an increase of 83 from Monday.
There are 133 people hospitalized with the virus, an increase of four. Of those, 29 people are in intensive care units, an increase of three. Of those hospitalized but not in the ICU, 72.1 per cent are unvaccinated, while out of the patients admitted to ICU, 86.2 per cent are unvaccinated.
Two more deaths raised the provincial death toll to 2,330.
The province reported 513 new cases of COVID-19 variants on Tuesday. Of those, 499 are the Delta variant, 11 are the Gamma variant and three are the Alpha variant.
In the Edmonton Zone, which includes the city of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities, there are 762 active cases, an increase of 38. The city of Edmonton has 568 of those cases, or 54.7 per 100,000 people. The city’s active cases increased by 32 since Monday.
As of end-of-day Monday, a total of 5,398,611 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, an increase of 8,392.
Of Albertans aged 12 and older who are eligible for the vaccine, 76.5 per cent have received at least one dose, or 65 per cent of the province’s total population.
There are 67.1 per cent of eligible Albertans who are fully vaccinated with two doses, or 57 per cent of the total population.
