Alberta reported 411 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday and there are currently 4,639 active cases across the province. There were 10,559 tests completed over the last 24 hours for a positivity rate of about 3.9 per cent.
There are 243 people hospitalized with the virus and of those, 44 are in intensive care units.
Twenty-two more cases of the B.1.1.7 variant first identified in the United Kingdom were reported, bringing the total number of variant cases in the province to 563.
Two more deaths were also reported, raising the provincial death toll to 1,913 .
The Edmonton Zone currently has 1,101 active cases of COVID-19 while the city of Edmonton has 901 active cases, or 86.8 per 100,000 people.
