A death in north Edmonton this past Sunday has been confirmed as a homicide by the local medical examiner.

Edmonton Police Service responded to calls of a disturbance inside a residence near 80 Street and 142 Avenue around 2:25 a.m. Police issued a release later that day saying the death was considered suspicious and the homicide section had taken over the investigation.

An autopsy conducted by Edmonton’s medical examiner on Thursday confirmed 28-year-old Gordy Loo’s death was a homicide. The cause of death is currently being held for investigative reasons, an EPS news release said.

Investigators are seeking dashcam or home security footage of the area. They are asking anyone who may have had cameras recording around the time of the death to contact them.

EPS can be reached at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a cellphone. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

Loo’s death is Edmonton’s 11th confirmed homicide of 2021.
