Beaumont man killed in Highway 21 crash southeast of Edmonton

A 32-year-old man is dead after a vehicle collision southeast of Edmonton.

Strathcona County RCMP were called to the two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 21 and Township Road 510 at 7:05 a.m. on Tuesday. It was reported to police a semi-tractor was travelling south on the Highway when it collided with a truck travelling east on the township road, a news release said Wednesday.

The 32-year-old driver of the truck from Beaumont was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the semi was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP crews remained on scene for several hours after the crash and the investigation into the crash is ongoing. The intersection was closed for most of the day as police had asked drivers to avoid the area. Shortly after 2 p.m. crews remained on scene cleaning up the area.

Police said no charges will be laid in the crash.
