The annual provincial awards are often tipped in favour of Calgary’s more active and muscular film industry — some years more than others — but any recognition of our cinematic ecosystem is a win for creative innovation and economic diversification.

The 10 Edmonton wins are wide ranging, though three went to a single production.

Score G Productions, which often creates sports-related movies, took home Best Unscripted Production Over 30 Minutes for Bisping, the documentary story of UFC middleweight Michael Bisping directed by Michael Hamilton. Over in craft, Scott Dodds took the Screenwriter (Unscripted Over 30 Minutes) Rosie for the same movie. And Best Overall Sound (Unscripted Over 30 Minutes) joins many Rosies on the shelf of Johnny Blerot and Carey Opper.
