This in from the Edmonton Journal’s Hall of Fame writer Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Oilers practice: “Jones with Bouchard in practice looks like third pair for Vanc. Jones hasn’t played in Feb… If Ethan Bear’s ready, that complicates things with Oilers because that’s 4 right-shot, right-side D with Barrie, Larsson and Bouchard. Young Caleb Jones, you would think, should get another shot after no games in Feb. He’s left-shot, left-side 3rd pairing D with Koekkoek out.”
Matheson added: “Neal and Turris didn’t skate Monday. Tippett said Neal just being rested so will be back on fourth line in Vanc but Turris was hurt in practice in Calgary and skated with injured Oilers today.”
And from Bob Stauffer of the Oilers: “Leon Draisaitl is not on the ice today. Looks like Shore is centring Kahun and Yamamoto. Pretty sure maintenance day for Draisaitl and I would expect him to play tomorrow night in Vancouver.”
And from the Edmonton Oilers: “Coach Tipp says Lagesson won’t be available for tomorrow’s Oilers vs. Canucks matchup, adds that Bear needs to be assessed today & they’ll know more on his status tomorrow. And Coach Tipp on Yamamoto after the Oilers forward was pulled from Saturday’s game for precautionary reasons: ‘He got banged up pretty good but he was alright yesterday & was out there today. He got through practice fine.’”
Lagesson and Bear were full participants at practice.
