Canadian Forces Snowbirds take flight for the first time since 2019

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be flying in Canadian airspace for the first time since they were grounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A drive-in show in Camrose, Alta. will take place on July 24 and 25 off Exhibition Drive, on the east side of the city.

“The Camrose Drive-In Airshow celebrates and thanks the community for its resilience as Alberta emerges from the pandemic,” reads a news release. “The show is a tribute to our local front line heroes for their perseverance over the past several months.”

The Canadian Forces CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team and a CH-146 Griffon Tactical Helicopter demonstration will join the Snowbirds in the air this weekend.

Organizers are asking the public to purchase admission online at camroseairshow.com to keep volunteers safe and traffic flowing.

Admission packages range from $35, $55, $120 per vehicle with proceeds supporting local volunteer activities of area service clubs that struggled throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Camrose is approximately 97 kilometres from Edmonton.
