Alberta recorded 52 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. For the second day in a row, no new deaths from the virus were reported.

According to the data released Friday afternoon, there are 126 people with COVID-19 in hospital, down from 133 the day before. There are 35 people in intensive care, an increase of three from the day before.
The day’s new cases were found after 7,316 tests, giving the province a positivity rate of 0.7 per cent.
Alberta currently has 675 active cases including 117 in the Edmonton zone. The Calgary zone continues to have the highest number of active cases in the province with 342. There are 421 active cases caused by a variant of concern. Thirty additional variant cases were reported on Friday.
More than 4.7 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in Alberta as of Thursday.
The data shows 73.9 per cent of eligible Albertans 12 or older have received at least one dose of a vaccine and 53.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.
