Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will provide her next COVID-19 update Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
The update comes as Albertans are still waiting to hear how many doses of the newly-approved AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine are coming to Alberta and how the province will dole those doses out.
Health Minister Tyler Shandro said this week Albertans who are 65 or older will not receive that vaccine, in line with advice from the national advisory committee due to “the insufficiency of evidence of efficacy in this age group at this time.”
Of the 500,000 doses of the vaccine that Canada has received, 300,000 are set to expire April 2.
