Premier Jason Kenney, Health Minister Jason Copping, and chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will provide an update on Covid-19 in Alberta at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The briefing comes after Monday’s debate in the legislature on the province’s COVID-19 response when Kenney told the legislature that if Hinshaw had suggested something more to fight the pandemic he would have listened.
“Had there been further recommendations later in August to take additional measures, I would have immediately convened a cabinet committee meeting to approve those,” he said.
On Tuesday, 315 more cases of the disease were reported in Alberta and hospitalizations and ICU numbers climbed slightly. There were 691 people hospitalized for COVID-19 by Tuesday, an increase of two, and ICU numbers climbed by two to 159. Eight more deaths were reported.
