New COVID-19 variant cases broke another record Wednesday, passing the 200-case threshold for the first time.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said at a news conference that 202 of the more contagious variant cases were found, and they now make up about 19 per cent of all active cases. There were a total of 692 new COVID-19 cases in Alberta on Wednesday and two more people have died.
She also said the two most recent cases of the Brazilian variant were acquired in the community, and that cases of the variant have recently risen.
