Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will provide an update on COVID-19 Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Alberta reported 1,351 new cases of COVID-19, the highest daily case count since New Year’s Eve.

Another 575 new cases of variants of concern were also identified.

Hinshaw, tweeted Wednesday that now is the time to “dig in” and bend the curve down.

“By following public health measures and making safe choices in everything we do, including getting vaccinated when eligible, we can bring case (numbers) down and break the chains of transmission,” Hinshaw wrote.
