Edmonton fire crews were busy at Hermitage Park Friday night and into Saturday as they battled a grassfire in a nearby ravine.

Adriana Amelio, spokeswoman for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS), said calls alerting the service to the fire came in around 11:05 p.m. before five crews arrived at 11:12 p.m.

A video posted to Twitter Friday night taken from a nearby roadway shows smoke billowing above the trees in the park, illuminated by orange flame.

Crews worked the scene until the fire until it was declared out at 12:39 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

The cause and amount of damages caused are not yet known. However, EFRS also received reports of fireworks going off in the park around the same time as they were being called to the fire, said Amelio.
