An Edmonton doctor is facing two charges for fraudulently billing upwards of $3.5 million to the Alberta government.

In a news release Friday morning, the Edmonton Police Service said its economic crimes section received a request from the Alberta Justice department in April to assist with the arrest of a physician in relation to an ongoing billing scheme dating back to 2013. It is alleged the doctor fraudulently billed the province between $3.5-$4.1 million in fees for service.

Dr. Yifei Shi, 33, was arrested on April 23. She faces charges of fraud and theft over $5,000.
