Edmonton city police and partner agencies launched a regular sweep of the North Saskatchewan River shoreline Tuesday in an effort to find missing persons.

Such proactive deployments are conducted regularly, including in the fall and the summer, once the spring snow and runoff have cleared.

The effort is dedicated to resolving active and unreported missing person cases, including searching for human remains.
