Well look at us, so lucky, hosting the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Edmonton with crowds cheering elite athletes on the spectrum of Olympians through their swim, bike, run until they bust through that finish line in say, oh, 20 C temperatures. Any rains to shower down are not expected until Saturday evening, long after our racers have crossed the line and are able to luxuriate in their wins and personal bests …or at least come to terms with what can tick off time more quickly come the next race. There will be chance of thunderstorms late Saturday, the likes of which many of us gleefully await, most times though only to be mildly thrilled by that clap of thunder or two before the system moves on, teasing us until well, the next system. But for those who crave the sun, nay, are energized, ebullient as she beams, the remainder of the week, past Monday, is forecast for little to no cloudage, in the 20 C range. If depleted by the prospect of cooler, darker weather (15 C Sunday and Monday) know to pass the torch to, shall we say, the teammate swinging up beside you, feeling strong and able to carry any burden swiftly, that is until you’ve recovered and can receive it from them the next lap of life, once they’ve exhausted all stores. And so we go, just like the weather. Settled, unsettled, hot and cold, but always with a teammate or a few, holding steadfast, cheering us on.
