A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.
This week has been a doozy! I know some of you gave me a hard time yesterday when I said it was the first week of home learning. I know many of you have been doing this for quite a bit longer than I. For that, my friends, you are ROCKSTARS!
This week has had its ups and downs. Yesterday’s adventure came in the form of a science experiment. Making some sort of gloop that is a solid when you squeeze it and a liquid when you let go. So my grade four scholar decided to tackle this one on his own. Ingredients include cornstarch and water but how much? I have no idea but we’re out of cornstarch now. More cornstarch got on the counter than in the bowl and then he was struck with the exciting idea to add food colouring to make it a fun colour.
Once made this pink gloop is now everywhere. Dripping from fingers onto the table and floor. We quickly rush to bring it outside, we’ve finally realized what is going on, and now it looks like someone has exploded a bottle of Pepto Bismol all over my deck. It was a fun idea I just wish we could have helped out so it wasn’t such a disaster. We put in a quick rule that if it’s experiment time they need to ask for help. Hoping that will allow us to manage any more science disasters in the coming days. Some rain will help wash away the cornstarch film that is all over my patio set. Yes, we hosed everything down but that stuff is nearly impossible to get off!
