A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.
Monday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measured -6.7 C with 3 km/h winds out of the south, southwest with a wind chill of -8.
Ah yes, March. My arch-nemesis.
I’ve been very critical of March in the past and justifiably so. And while I’m not entirely ready to trust this darn month we’re certainly off to an interesting start. Forecasters are calling for nothing but mainly sunny skies and temperatures in the 5-8 C all week—that’s pretty incredible.
But before we get too excited I have to point out the potential nightmare on the horizon that comes in the form of rain overnight tonight. Forecasters are calling for a chance of rain showers starting around 7 p.m. tonight as temperatures hover around the 0-2 C mark. Winds are expected to pick up, gusting to 20-40 km/h, and temperatures will eventually dip below freezing around 1 a.m. By then the snow/rain/nightmare should be all over and we’ll wake up to cloudy skies tomorrow and a potential skating rink on the sidewalks and streets. Find out tomorrow on another episode of Edmonton Meets March: a never-ending saga.
