Well done, Edmonton! We broke the record for most days that have reached above 30 degrees in a summer. Yesterday’s high of 31.8 degrees pushed us past the finish line. The record was set in 1961 with 14 days above 30 degrees. Yesterday marked the 15th day with a daytime high above 30 degrees.
I realize that this isn’t a record we should be over the moon about celebrating. It indicates the effects of global warming on our planet.
I’m happy to say that we should see slightly cooler temperatures today with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Tomorrow will be cooler with a high of 22 degrees and a 60 per cent chance of showers in the late morning and afternoon.
I hope some of those showers come through. We need the precipitation desperately.
