Happy wine Wednesday, friends! Today I decided to write about an absolutely fabulous Barolo I enjoyed this past weekend. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this weekend. We chose to not go out for a nice dinner on the patio and opted to make an Italian feast at home. We made our first attempt at homemade pasta and bolognese sauce. It turned into a really memorable family time with the kids helping to roll out the pasta dough and filling the ravioli and helping to shape them. All in all, it was a fun (very messy) adventure.
The Luigi Bosca 2013 Barolo was the real treat though. Made from 100 per cent Nebbiolo grapes, this wine was drinking really nicely. On the lighter side of Barolo. The high tannins had been tamed to velvety smooth and the colour had started to lighten with a hint of garnet on the edges. Aromas of red cherries, dried roses and herbs, with notes of cedar and leather. This wine complimented the meal and the occasion.
