Fatal stabbing during home invasion leads to second-degree murder charges

Alberta RCMP major crimes unit have charged two men with second-degree murder after a man was stabbed during a home invasion on Ermineskin Cree Nation.

On April 11 Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call of a stabbing at 6:19 a.m. with emergency medical services, who treated 51-year-old Albert Dean Wildcat and took him to hospital.

The Maskwacis RCMP investigation led to the arrest of Leon Clark Ermineskin, 25, and Justin James Larocque, 33, both of Ermineskin Cree Nation, who were remanded into custody.

Four days later on April 15, Wildcat died of his injuries in hospital.

Alberta RCMP major crimes took over the investigation with the help of multiple RCMP detachments, and on April 22 charged Ermineskin and Larocque with second degree murder.

The two are set to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on April 27.
