City police have charged a 34-year-old man in relation to the death of a man found in a southeast Edmonton home with life-threatening injuries.
Edmonton police were called to reports of a disturbance at a home near 16 Avenue and 42 Street on July 26, 2020. When they arrived, officers found 34-year-old Gabriel Sunshine inside the home suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Emergency medical services treated Sunshine but he died at the scene from his injuries.
The Edmonton medical examiner released a final autopsy report on March 5 that confirmed Sunshine died from a stab wound and his death was a homicide.
Brian Jerome James Paul, 27, was charged with second-degree murder after police obtained a warrant for his arrest last November.
Paul was in custody at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre on an unrelated matter when police issued the warrant for his arrest.
