A 22-year-old man is dead after being thrown onto a highway from his off-highway vehicle.

On Aug. 6, at about 12:15 p.m., High Level RCMP were on patrol along Highway 695, approximately 15 kilometres west of Highway 35, when they were flagged down by a woman.

An initial investigation suggests a man driving an off-highway vehicle (OHV) braked for a deer, causing him to be thrown onto the highway while the OHV and a woman who was a passenger on the vehicle landed in a ditch.

The man, from Paddle Prairie, died at the scene while the 23-year-old woman, from Keg River, was taken to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
