Police in Maskwacis are investigating after a man was killed attempting to cross a highway on foot Sunday evening.
The man was struck by a vehicle on Highway 2A, just north of the intersection with Highway 611 near the Samson Cree Nation office. The collision happened around 8:55 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP said in a news release.
The man, whose age was not given, was declared dead on scene. The driver of the vehicle stayed and cooperated with police, the news release said.
Emergency crews diverted traffic for about two hours while RCMP investigated. Mounties said they will provide no additional information about the crash.
