Bonnyville RCMP issued a news release about the crash shortly before 1 p.m., reporting one death and warning that the semi, believed to be carrying crude oil, could be leaking diesel fuel.

The collision occurred on Highway 28 near the hamlet of Fort Kent. The news release did not include a time for the crash but said the highway will be closed for several hours Saturday while emergency crews and a collision analyst do their work. Traffic is being diverted using Range Roads 451 and 452.

There were no other injuries in the crash, police said. No details were provided about the victim.

Fort Kent is about 250 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
