As of press time, Salvador held a healthy lead over her closest competitor, Caroline Matthews, along with 10 other candidates officially on the ballot –- the most of any ward.
Salvador, an urban planner, ran a campaign touting her experience and knowledge of land use and city planning, focusing on promises to revitalize mature neighbourhoods and attract families with affordable housing, permanent support housing, better transit and amenities.
Salvador was endorsed by outgoing mayor Don Iveson.
The vote was scattered among 12 candidates, with Matthews and NDP-endorsed candidate Cori Longo close behind Salvador.
