Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Friday morning.
Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a called at the Fort McMurray Airport after receiving reports of a male displaying erratic behaviour with an edged weapon at approximately 5:35 a.m., on Friday.
When mounties arrived an interaction occurred resulting in a police officer discharging their service weapon. EMS attended the scene and the male suspect was transported to hospital.
ASIRT is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Wood Buffalo RCMP continues to investigate the incident leading up to the service member discharging their service weapon.
