Two pickups collided on Highway 16 east of Sherwood Park Saturday evening, sending one driver to hospital in critical condition.
Police were called to the scene, near Range Road 214, at 6:46 p.m., RCMP said in a news release.
Early investigation indicates the eastbound truck struck the other vehicle as it proceeded northbound from Range Road 214. The northbound driver was rushed to hospital, while the eastbound driver was uninjured.
Partial lane restrictions were in place near the scene of the crash — about 16 kilometres west of Elk Island National Park — while debris was removed from the roadway.
Police asked motorists to avoid the area.
