A wildfire burning west of Edmonton has prompted an emergency alert and nearby residents should be prepared for possible evacuations.
The wildfire is burning in the area of Township Road 522 and Range Road 63 and moving in a southeastern direction.
An emergency alert published around 6:30 p.m. Friday asked for people to avoid the area and if individuals live near the fire location to be prepared for possible evacuation.
Updates on the fire will be posted on Parkland County’s website at parklandcounty.com as well as the county’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
