One man is dead and another was airlifted to hospital in critical condition after a single-vehicle fatal collision involving a stolen vehicle.
Parkland RCMP received a 911 call of the single-vehicle collision in the area of Lakewood Estates, Lac Ste. Anne County around 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mounties say preliminary investigation discovered the involved vehicle, a white SUV, was recently stolen from Edmonton. The vehicle allegedly left the roadway, rolled over onto its roof and became lodged between trees in a wooded area.
A 25-year-old man from Paul First Nation was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance in critical condition. The second occupant of the SUV was declared dead on scene by EMS and RCMP say his identity hasn’t been confirmed.
Parkland RCMP with the help of the RCMP collision analyst continue to investigate the crash.
Mounties are asking residents in the area to check their security cameras for any CCTV or dash camera footage that may be related to the white SUV in the hours prior to the collision.
