A Red Deer woman has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of a two-year-old on Oct. 10.

Red Deer RCMP received a call around 9:30 a.m. to assist Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at a home in the City of Red Deer where a two-year-old had sustained critical injuries. The child was transported to hospital where they died of their injuries.
Mounties say an adult female was arrested at the scene.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit handled the investigation from there and charged a 30-year-old woman with first-degree murder in relation to the child’s death on Oct. 11.
The individuals knew each other and the general public was not at risk, said RCMP. Officers are not looking for any other suspects.
Names of the suspect and victim cannot be released due to a publication ban.
