A 42-year-old woman is dead after a fatal crash in Brazeau County, Alta. on Tuesday night.
Around 10:16 p.m., Breton RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 22 about one kilometre south of the intersection of Highway 616. Mounties say Thorsby RCMP and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the call.
RCMP say their investigation determined that a car was travelling northbound on Highway 22 before it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with an SUV.
The driver of the car, a woman of Rimbey, Alta., was declared dead at the scene. The 55-year-old female driver of the SUV of Alder Flats, Alta., suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a local area hospital by STARS air ambulance.
Mounties continue to investigate the cause of the crash with the help of the RCMP collision analyst. Traffic was re-routed during the time the collision analyst was on scene.
