Stolen water truck crashes into multiple vehicles in downtown Edmonton Friday, driver in custody

A woman is in police custody and several people sustained minor injuries after a stolen water truck collided with multiple vehicles in downtown in Edmonton Friday.

The collisions occurred on 109 Street and Jasper Avenue, where tow trucks were seen removing damaged vehicles from the area. A blue Ram pickup was seen tipped on its side after colliding with the water truck.

After a collision with another vehicle, Edmonton Police spokeswoman Cheryl Voordenhout said the water truck rolled onto its side, bringing the truck to a stop.

“At this time, several people have reported minor injuries. The female driver of the stolen truck is in police custody and has been taken to the hospital to be assessed,” said Voordenhout in an emailed statement.

No pedestrians were involved in the incident, Voordenhout said.
