Strathcona County RCMP are investigating a vehicle fire that is linked to a suspicious death on Wednesday night.

RCMP responded to a vehicle fire near Township Road 530 and Range Road 221, in Sherwood Park, at 9:36 p.m., on Wednesday. Inside the burnt-out vehicle, human remains were discovered.
The death is being considered suspicious and the Alberta Major Crimes Unit is investigating with assistance from the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit and the Strathcona County RCMP General Investigations Section.
An autopsy has been ordered and will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
RCMP is looking for dashcam footage or information on suspicious vehicles and/or persons that may have been in the area at that time. Contact Strathcona County RCMP at 780-467-7741.
