As We Travel Through (redux): This show of RBC emerging artists has moved from the Nina on 118 Avenue to the centre’s window gallery downtown — meaning you can have a gander from outside if you’re in the area.
Artists include Breanna Barrington, Edith Chu, Mika Haykowsky, Ashley Harrington, Keita Kankam and Zana Wensel, who has an amazing combo of textile sculpture and painting right on the northeast corner. Also have a look for Chu’s wonderful painting of a man playing chess with a panda!

When Smokey Sings …: Edmonton public artist Nickelas Johnson is a singer in his other life, specializing in old-timey, croon-y country songs he learned to entertain his grandpa in his final years.
Nick has now set up a rustic sparkle studio in the basement where from which he transmits a daily song on Instagram, “song a day if I can handle it,” as he puts it. This week was a run of Hank Williams covers well worth checking out, including Weary Blues, Your Cheatin’ Heart and Long Gone Lonesome Blues. As we wait for the green light from the Sky Palace to see live shows again, this is the next best thing, and you can arrange your own track list!

Virtual cinema to go: In case you need to wash the taste of Wonder Woman 84 out of your mouth, just a reminder if you want to support independent filmmaking, Metro Cinema at Garneau Theatre is doing inexpensive rentals, including Marc Serpa Francoeur and Robinder Uppal’s No Visible Trauma, Jia Zhang-ke’s Swimming Out Till the Sea Turns Blue and Suzanne Crocker’s First We Eat.
They’re no longer doing popcorn pickup, but this also means you don’t need to get dressed! YES!
