West Edmonton Mall Lego Store opens: Many are the claims made of what puts a city on the map, from such trifles as sports facilities to river-valley architecture, but for today let us consider just one thing: having a flagship Lego store.
Too long in coming, it’s always been strange West Edmonton Mall hasn’t had Big Lego in its impressive husk, and dropping 6,500 square-feet of possibility-brick heaven into Phase IV seems like rare exciting news in our gutted-fish retail landscape, which will hopefully rebound post-pandemic. Of course, it’s hands-off, minds-on for most of the new store’s most touchy and exciting features, including the pick-and-build wall and a central “living room.”
But the must-post giant builds will click nicely with the big Yoda and surfing Batman up in the theatre above (are they still there — is anything?). So while the store is, thanks to COVID-19, still a work in progress, it certainly follows the one-word mantra of all Lego: possibility.

Edmonton Dining Week extended: Several factors including success and need have extended Edmonton Dining Week’s 12 days an extra week through Sunday coming up. Of the 41 restaurants which participated, more than 30 are continuing to offer dine-in, takeout and curbside pickup, lunch and brunch; dinner $35/$50.
“We’re so thankful to all the Edmontonians that dined and did takeout at our downtown restaurants when it mattered the most,” says Nick Lilley, DBA’s interim executive director. “Downtown Dining Week isn’t just about dining. It’s about supporting small businesses and spending your dollars where they impact your community.”
