For the Love of Art opening: The West End Gallery presents “For the Love of Art,” a special group exhibition to add a little sweetness to your Valentine’s weekend. Showcasing a variety of colours, techniques, and inspiration; landscapes, still-lifes, abstracts, impressionistic, urban and figurative styles are all represented. Participating artists include Aleksandra, Vé Boisvert, Claudette Castonguay, Alain Bédard, Élène Gamache, Josée Lord, Andrew Mirth, Guy Roy and Blythe Scott. Runs through Feb. 27.

I Walked the Line: When Vancouver-based professional actor Allan Morgan hit a dry spell, he did what most actors do in that situation; he got another job. I Walked the Line is an autobiographical solo show that tells the story of Morgan’s shift from actor, to mailroom clerk, to walking a picket line. The play takes audiences on the journey of a man’s discovery of the power of worker solidarity. Directed by Ross Desprez.

Weathering with You (2019): In the summer of his high school freshman year, Hodaka runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day, as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but one day he meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong-willed girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky. Looks weird and wild. Directed by Makato Shinkai, 114 mins., English dubbed (Japanese with subtitles version runs Feb. 17-19).
