My take

1. Kyle Turris and Willian Lagesson has cleared NHL waivers, which means Lagesson is likely heading down to play with Bakersfield. Turris? Still practicing with the team, and Edmonton is likely to jump through several salary cap-related hoops before its opening night roster is set.

2. At the starting of training camp, if someone had told me that Brendan Perlini, Turris and Colton Sceviour would all be in the opening night roster, I would have bet against it. But we know a few things about Oilers coach Dave Tippett, that he likes his veteran players, with Sceviour and Perlini both being well-travelled vets and he also likes to go back repeatedly to the combination of Leon Draisiatl and Connor McDavid.
