Demonstrators protesting violence in the Tigray region of Ethiopia by Ethiopian federal government and Eritrean troops drove in a caravan through Edmonton on Saturday.

In a COVID-safe protest, family and supporters of the Tigray people raised their voices and honked car horns to draw attention to the plight of loved ones.

There have been widespread reports of violence against civilians, including rape and sexual violence against women and girls. The United Nations Security Council last week expressed their “deep concern” about the situation and called for investigations “to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”

Reports to the UN have described massacres and the use of starvation as a tool of war.
