Two people were sent to hospital following an apartment fire in south-central Edmonton Wednesday morning.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services received a call just before 7:30 a.m. for an apartment fire in the area of 87 Street and 97 Avenue in the Strathearn neighbourhood.
Crews arrived on scene minutes later to smoke coming from a three-storey building. The fire was brought under control by 7:42 a.m. and declared out a few minutes before 8:30 a.m.
While everyone safely evacuated from the building, two residents were assessed at the scene — both for smoke inhalation and one with some burns. They were both transported to hospital.
Investigators continue to determine the cause of the fire and damage estimates.
