A fire at a west Edmonton home that sent three people to the hospital this weekend caused an estimated $400,000 in damage, says Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
Fire crews responded to the blaze near 90 Avenue and 144 Street around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after a neighbour called 911.
Two residents were evacuated and transported to hospital by emergency medical services, one with minor injuries and one in serious condition. One of the fire crew members was also transported to hospital, a news release said Sunday.
A Tuesday update from EFRS said the fire was accidental and it was started in the home’s basement. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction.
The fire caused an estimated $300,000 worth of structural damage and $100,000 worth of damage to contents in the home.
