Wetaskiwin RCMP seize drugs, weapons in traffic stop of suspicious vehicle

Drugs and weapons were seized by Wetaskiwin RCMP from a suspicious vehicle observed driving in an industrial area on Thursday.

RCMP said officers were patrolling the area when they came across a vehicle with an unmatched licence plate at approximately 3:30 a.m., on Thursday. The officers conducted a traffic stop and during the investigation, the vehicle was searched. Police said the officers located several weapons, drugs and break-in tools. The driver and the passenger were arrested.

Nathan Gabriel Adams, 36, of Wetaskiwin, Alta. and 35-year-old Kristen Ashley Rain, of Breton, Alta. were arrested and charged with several offences including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of break-in instruments and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon while unauthorized.

Adams was released with conditions to appear in Wetaskiwin court on Sept. 9, 2021. Rain was remanded into custody and will appear in Wetaskiwin court on Aug. 17, 2021.
