Woman, 86, killed in two-vehicle crash on Yellowhead Highway east of Sherwood Park

An 86-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Yellowhead Highway east of Sherwood Park Friday afternoon.

In a news release Friday night, Strathcona County RCMP said officers responded to the collision on the Yellowhead at Range Road 215 around 4 p.m.

The woman was pronounced dead on scene and two men, aged 83 and 55, suffered undetermined injuries. STARS air ambulance responded to the scene and airlifted one of the men to a nearby hospital.

RCMP continue to investigate, but said no further public updates are expected. The eastbound lanes of the Yellowhead were closed at the scene of the crash throughout Friday evening and traffic was rerouted until the road reopened around 10:40 p.m.
